The blog post title is an example of a one-liner marketing headline. These headlines are used in email pitches, print ads, and blog posts. They’re quite easy to write and they can be really effective.
Teaching and inspiring are two of my passions, and I like to share my knowledge and experience with others. I have collected 12 free tools to use in my lessons to make them more interactive and engaging. Some tools are for teachers, and others are for students. You can use them in your high school, college, or even in your home.
1- Diigo
Diigo is the first web service that comes to mind when you talk about web annotations. Diigo has a tool that allows you to annotate web pages, add notes and highlight specific paragraph excerpts to share with colleagues.2- Sharedcopy
This is another great web service for bookmarks and notes. It allows users to save web pages and annotate them at will by adding comments in text boxes or highlighting important parts. It also has a social component, as users can share the content they have responded to with each other.
3- Impressive screenshot
This is one of my favorites. It is an extension for Chrome and Safari that allows users to take screenshots of web pages, then draw lines on them, make notes, add text and comments, and share them with others. If you are a Chrome or Safari user, this program is simply indispensable.
4- Bounce
It is also an excellent annotation tool. It is very easy to use. Just enter the URL of a web page and Bounce turns it into an image to which you can add text and annotations. You can also share your commented content via a unique URL.
5- Markup.io
This is essentially a bookmarklet that you can drag onto your browser toolbar. You can take notes on any web page you view by simply clicking on this tab. Again: When you’re done adding an image to your website, you can share it with others using the generated URL.
6- Screen Draw
This is an excellent Firefox extension that allows users to take notes on selected web pages. Users can circle items, type or draw annotations on any web page before saving the annotations as PNG or JPG files.
7- Screenshot of web pages
This is a Chrome extension that allows users to take a screenshot of a web page and add their own drawings or arrows.
8- Jing
This is another great tool that allows users to create annotated screenshots. By taking a screenshot of your web page, you can add text, arrows, drawings and highlighted text boxes.
9- Crocodoc
This is a great tool that allows users to annotate, edit and share PDFs, Power Point files and Word documents. It is very easy to use. Just upload the file you want to change, select your formatting program and you’re done. You can also share it with your colleagues.
10- Yawas
Here is another free web annotation tool for Firefox and Chrome. Allows users to highlight text and make annotations to web pages, then right-click to save the annotations to Google Bookmarks.
11- MyStickies
This is a free tool that allows users to place small yellow squares of digital paper anywhere on a web page.
12- Draw here
This is a bookmarklet that you can add to your toolbar to draw on any web page when you are browsing.
